About art

You can see two butterflies with contrasting colours on the print: blue and yellow. Our art designer, Nazrin, portrayed Azerbaijani elements called “Buta” on the butterflies that can be found throughout her drawings. The “Buta” element looks like a teardrop and is well-known in Azerbaijan from the times of Zoroastrianism when people used to worship the fire. When you rotate the painting 90 degrees to the right, you will recognize a different perspective with the image of the sea, blue sky, clouds, green leaves, all emphasized by the contrasting black lines. Here I captured my memories of growing up next to the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan.

Nazrin has a very unique style of drawing that she defines as “modern cubism.” The signature style of of her drawing is the shapes that come in a nonconventional relation, proportion, and colour pallet emphasized by contrasting black lines.
