About art

The meaning behind this artwork is related to my memories of growing up next to the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan. It reflects the story of my personal development and captures my signature drawing of the colourful pallet emphasized by contrasting black lines.

You will find elements that look like teardrops that I portrayed within abstracted butterflies. In Azerbaijan we call such shapes as “Buta”. The “Buta” element is very special in my culture and is known from the times of Zoroastrianism when people used to worship the fire.

There is also another perspective to this art piece. When you rotate this painting 90 degrees to the right, you will recognize a different scenery with the image of the sea, blue sky, clouds, green leaves, all emphasized by the contrasting lines that remind me of home.
